It's a PITA putting the top of the air cleaner cover on because when I lean over to fit it on, invariably I knock the little bolt (which swivels!) over on the carburettor wire (it's a Ball & Ball Carb)--see the pics. Today I used a cotton thread tied round the end of the bolt passed through the hole in the centre of the cover. I have tried using loctite on the wire and sliding the vertical bolt back over into position but it obviously wasn't centred in exactly the right place because I knocked it over again! I've tried steadying the bolt with a screwdriver poked through the cleaner cover hole but that takes a few attempts because the cleaner cover is so wide. I just wondered if anyone had any better way of doing this? Like a thin tube of something shoved over the bolt but still small enough to go through the cover hole and be pulled off afterwards?
I wiggle mine about 'til it lines up. But my cleaner is smaller than yours. Clean the area well before jb welding it, don't want it flaking off and going through yer /!
