Ahh yes, I took this at Brands, wonder if it was the same meet?

IIRC a Vette won the race, and to my surprise the driver somehow found himself near my car, jumped in (top was down of course) and got me to give him a lift to the pits!

yeah i think we were at the same one ! the coronet still has the steel wheels , also the 440 still had its iron production cylinder heads then if i remember correctly , yes your right Gavin a corvette won ! , think there was two 63 vetts never been up on them :? running ... seem to remember a black one with a flamed front end , or i might be thinking of something else , good picture of that coronet , gives the feel of speed 8-) ,
if i remember how the race went the coronet was blasting past them on the straight , but getting out braked & passed in the corners ,finally lost brakes altogether i think on the last lap

Brilliant pics, I was at Brands for one of these meets, when a blue Barracuda 68/9 had a big smash. Is this the same year? RPM's Superbee was there, but i don't remember as many Yanks in the carpark. Mind you I was in a Triumph Herald so was probably directed elsewhere.

crikey Jon  , right where you was standing , bet that made a racket , heavy ole car spinning out , would not want to get in the way of that :help:

blue Barracuda had a big wreck :? don't know if it was the same year Matt , might of been the one later on that year as there was two meets at brandshatch !! what happened to it ? was it repaired ?

When I say right where I was stood...there was a barrier there

It was a while back but as far as I can remember it did at least 1 full 360 and was lucky not to hit anything...

a historic single seater hit the barrier right where I was stood at the oulton park gold cup this august...I must attract 'em

Yes I think the winning Vette was a white 68-on version (might have had a US flag or something..?).
Now you mention it I do rember the flamed 63, the Bernie mentioned being Bernie Chodosh (sp?), who'd I have never met but recognised his name at the time from hot rodding mags!! I thought it was cool to have a hot rodder and a flame job in the series!

That might also have been one of the few race meets my wife ever came to....and got badly sunburned since it was a bit overcast but actually quite sunny!!
