There are ways and means Pete, it just means I'll have to be careful and take Blue's Dart build as an example, he's got a lot of weight out of the car without incurring the wrath of the DVLA or VOSA.
Shame, because I had planned to go quite radical, even though the Paul Worral Memorial Trophy was the aim of the build.
I'm thinking Captain Slow might be quite nice emblazoned down the side in red and gold metalflake...

This is why I have moved away from rods way too much legislation coming in. You have the best of both worlds with mopars, they can be fettled without drawing too much attention and came with v8 as standard so no twitchy vosa or mot "jobs worth" can give you aggro saying the monoque is modified. I have had a few mates have problems already. One mate with a highly modified savage mk2 is asking for trouble, he's gone four link rear end, rack and pinion front end and it sticks out like a soar thumb as nothing is original any more! The "How to Build a Winning Drag Race Chassis and Suspension" book has arrived, I've given ita quick speed read for content and in short, although the content appears to be very good, with tech drawings, illustrations and angles, it's aimed more at up to date tube framed cars with four link set ups etc.
So it hasn't really helped me with old school leaf springs, ladder bars and tube axle set ups...anyway after reading the latest regs on the ACE web site, it looks like the separate chassis is out of the window if I want to remain road legal...
What worries me is a lot of people are just ignoring this stuff and still building their cars to spite the regulations, It is not going to go away.also if they delibratly flout vosa and such like it will bite us all in the bumIvor wrote:I agree Wolfie, I'm glad I found out before I took things too far...I think if the car is properly and safely engineered and appears reasonably stock, it shouldn't cause the MOT guy a heart attack.

I think any steering that is not R&P freaks them out, and they would not know what bits of chassis are standard or modified.

A HIGH TEN is much safer than a LOW TEN!
Safe is relative as we all know.
I mean safe in a street car on springs!
I like some people in the Moparworld have run a MID-TEN.
In a back half car it was quite exciting!
