James' 68 Charger

Post by Anonymous »

Most of you know the story of how I got this Charger (Nov 04 Connected),
basically a drunken ebay bid that turned out very successfully!
Two owner car from NewMexico, with original Alberqurque dealers ('Dodge Country') window option sheet and badge on rear panel. Lots of history came with the Charger and the guy I bought it from knew plenty of stories!
the fully rebuilt 383 has a Competition high energy cam, RPM Edelbrock inlet and 800cfm carb with headers, it really does go like hell, maximum indicated about 130 and will happily cruise at 120 (all tried on long private roads - of course!).
It is rust free but most of front interior has been well scorched, rear interior is like new though!

Its been very reliable over here, had to change starter motor for a mini hi torque jobby fairly early on, converted what was left of AC unit into reliable heater, fitted new Cooper Cobra tyres to the period correct Turbovec alloys (after couple of very close shaves!) and just fully rebuilt the servo drum brakes, which are now very good and sensitive.
While cleaning up the interior I found the original factory build sheet.
generally Im well pleased with it and surprised at how easy it is to drive. Got new rear sway bar (to compliment the front) coming, along with new carpet and centre console.

Lovely car James! What a good buy that has turned out to be. Rust free with all that wonderful documentation.

Superb.

This is how nice that car is-

I HATE brown cars, tan/brown interiors and I prefer the 69 model year over the 68.............

But that Charger is one of the nicest I've seen!

I'm sure I used to have a mk 1 escort in that colour (In fact that's prob what started it off! It was a heap!) :D
