what's this radiator off?
hi guys, can anyone help identify this radiator? i dont think it's a proper 68 charger job but my knowlodge is limited here, it measures 22" across i am gonna order up a cluch fan kit for it, also thinking about a shroud and possibly a better radiator a 26" one from yr one, as in traffic the temp guage really starts to go up!
Trev, www.USRadiator.com made me an original-looking radiator for my satellite that has 6 row cooling capacity of a conventional rad but is actually a modern type of 4 row - It's fairly expensive at $440 plus shipping but that was a 26" one for an A/C and auto tranny car and they do others that are still better than original but not as expensive. This would be the way to go if you wanted to keep the size you have because of hassle swapping to the bigger size? Or alternatively you could your existing rad re-cored to this higher spec but I have no idea how much that would be in this country! Everything I've bought from the states so far turns out to be between half and 3/4 price cheaper than here!
Here's a pic of the new rad:

hi will thanks for the offer, called at dave robsons on sunday night and i think i may be getting a bit paranoid, the needle swings up but only in traffic, but it hasen't gone of the scale, yet!
definetly going to get a m/p cluch fan fitted, then see how it goes from there, it has a flexilite job on at the mo and i'm wondering if its moving enough air to do the job properly, and is it on the right way round!

i think that your flex fan is the wrong way round isnt it?
i have a flex fan on my demon it does not keep the car cool but i need a spacer to get it closer to the rad core.
the car had a viscous coupling fan but it had stopped working, so i have put a kenlowe fan on as a backup and this keeps my mind at rest.
the only downside th this is that the charging system will not keep up if the electric fan is on when the car is ticking over so only use this as a piece of mind.
also last year i had overheating with a 440 after a lot of it may be this or that we found the big bloc rad to be blocked,i replaced it with a small block rad that i had and found the smaller rad coped well and the car did not get too warm.

I actually like the flex fans, the only problem i ever had was caused by the trans which whatever fan is on there won't make any difference at all it will still get hot when driven.
Just fitted a big flex fan to Wildmans, it had a really small F**d fan on it before which wasn't cooling it at all, with the flex fan it will tick over for ages, it will eventually start to creep up a little but it's got 2 big electric fans which are going to be used as a back up and peace of mind as Matty said, I've got it hot ish and once the electric fans are on it cools very quick with minimal load on the charging system.
The charging system on these cars is not up to running an electric fan as a primary
Also a lot of cooling systems will be full of scale and crud, My old usaf pickup would boil if i'd let it so i did all the head gasket checks for ex gas in the water etc.. Non, it all checked out, I put some Cat rad cleaner in it and run it for a good while and then back flushed it, it took about 5 hours to Bananarama! but it was fine afterwards, the stuff that came out was unbelievable.
The one downside is that if say crud is assisting with sealing gaskets anywhere then it may leak afterwards but thats better to find parked on the drive anyway rather than the hard shoulder of a motorway

Change the water temp sensor, they are cheap and they do fail, best thing to eliminate first. Also check all wiring related to it.
Yours looks like standard rad, the others are heavey duty and air con types.
Oh and theres absolutely nothing wrong with original flex fans, I can see why people replace them for racing, but they are more than adequate for normal use.
