Dave, we all want the new stuff?
But we make do with what we got!
The factory stock six-pack set-up is still a good way to go!!!
I still recommend that bottom end build as a good street/strip deal!
There are better pistons out there than KB's and definitely better heads than stock!
Those are all budget decisions we all make at the start of an engine build.
Most engines go wrong at some time, thats when you have a rethink?
Sometimes you go forwards sometimes you go backwards.
Forwards is always better, but not always achievable?
Status Quo is what most peple can afford at the moment?
Bacca 54 to go.

When I built this engine (mid 90s) there were no big block Edelbrock or any other make of alloy heads. The only choice was MP Stage IV or ported stock. So it is not as if I had any choice?
I could have had these heads ported bigger than they are. But it depends on how you use the engine as well as cam. It spends most of it's life on the street. So I had them ported to be just big enough for the cam I had selected. That way I have great driveability at normal rpms. They cost £900 shipped to my door from the US. The only other part that has cost more was the GV overdrive.
I have put everything I have into this car. I don't have any more.

Dave,
I've got a dynamite pair of heads that are destined to go on my stroker motor, with the work on the boss's Alpine and all the body and cage work I have to do on the Barracuda, they will be sitting on the shelf for a year doing nothing, if you want them on loan to keep you going, you are more than welcome to them mate.

Na, tried all the product's, these things are ported to the MAX, 5 exhausts ports leak but only under pressure, filled the water way's with apoxy resin, the left to drain out and cure, still getting some water mark's but nowere near as bad as before.Dave wrote:If it is porus rather than cracked would a radiator product like "bars leaks" not work?
