Hi All.
Am after some advice, I am thinking about replacing all uca & lca bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends and the idler arm (I replaced the pitman arm when I replaced the power steering box a couple of months ago).
This is on an Aussie A body from '70.
First thought on the matter is…. Maybe I should see what needs replacing from an MOT perspective.
Then I think…. Naah, rebuild the whole thing and be happy it’s upto scratch!
At the time of replacing the power steering box I got a tool kit that included the clamp to bolt onto the torsion bar to help removal (Belt the b-jusus out of it). This kit also includes other tools that press the bushes out/in and I hope it is the correct socket to remove the ball joints. - Think I have all the right tools.
From a search of the Forum:
I see that others have had problems removing the uca bolts. Guess I wont know until I get to that point, so can not really prepare too much for that.
Also noted that it's best to remove the ball joints before the control arms.
From the Pedders parts list (Rogers list and the web) I think there are at least 2 types of radius rod bush, can either type be used or is it dependant of the mount in the chassis?
As this is my daily driver I just want to get any advice for required tools, method, etc. before I start as I don't want any surprises that will extend the time the car is off the road.
And I don’t fancy doing it when the MOT is due at the end of Feb.
All advice welcome!
Thanks
Steve

Yes mate you will have trouble with the uca bolts had to cut mine with an air powered hacksaw they rust in big time !!!! apart from that and it is handy to have a press when you do them it should be a piece of cake !!!!
then again some of the buggers can be a sod to get out like the ones in the lca that go through the K frame !!
