Pre50 AAC Syon Park '89

Post by RobTwin »

Scanned some pics from this little get together at Syon Park in Isleworth, West London, back in April 1989

Bridget with the dark blue Pontiac Silver Streak (MYRLS license plate) used to live a few doors down the road from us in Mill Hill, so we cruised round the North Circ together and met others in the pub car park before going into the nearby Syon Park, which I seem to remember had a car museum & butterfly collection

Her other claim to fame is she used to be one of Adam Ant's main squeezes, before he went all looney-tunes :geek:

Not many muscle cars, unfortunately, but not surprising at it was a Pre50-organised meet.
Should keep the fins'n'chrome fans on here interested for a few mins tho.......

Oh and some might recognise a young looking Stewart & Milton Homan, peddling their wares. Maybe not tho, as some of the pics are pretty dark

Great photos, we used to go to that show too. Wasnt it a motorcycle museum?

I owned the pink metallic 59 Oldsmobile convertible from 2003 to 2006, it was at the NEC in 04 on the Classic American stand with your car!

Is that the Garrow bro's standing next to the gold 57 Oldsmobile?

Great pics Rob,

Love looking at all the pics of the eighties and early nineties...... Takes me back.

Great to see all those rounded shapes and then the one solitary green B body in amoungst for good measure :)

Great stuff :thumbright:
Lifes Too Fast But The Car`s Not, It even managed to miss the boat twice.
Now passed customs.
Now on route.
Now in posession.
Now costing me sh*t loads.

Nice pics Rob. I wonder how many of those cars are still around (apart from yours obviously). I think the Homans have still got that 53 Eldo haven't they?

I remember the 54 Ford in the background of the 59 Dodge pic terrorising Wandsworth on Chelsea Cruise night. I believe it had a hot 427 (Ford).

Thanks for sharing :thumbright:

Thanks Andy, I wasnt sure if that show was a one-off, I think we only went there that one time.

Not familiar with the name Garrow, but there's a few faces there I still see around these days.

Also remember drooling over your Olds at Billing in Aug 04 8-)

Some pics from there & the NEC later that year, in case you need reminding :D

Mate of mine owned that '54 Ford in the '80's, I was considering buying it, ex John Bonham car, 427 side oiler, 4 speed, 4.10's. A genuine late '60's street racer, it had all the correct period parts but was really tired after years of abuse. Often wondered what happened to it, I haven't seen it since the last time I drove it....

it's still around, all black now, runs a 390, was local to me up till a couple of years ago and owned by Pete Austin who used to race a pink Cuda in the 90's http://www.7-indulgence.com/id144.html
