i was chatting to blue/roydon and a couple of others at the herts meet on weds about things that have been found in engines so i thought i would stick this up

That's the puppy!

The debate was started when I recounted that when I stripped Roydon's 400 I found a whole mouse in the sump which was full of oil, beautifully preserved!!!

The real question is how did it get into the sump of a complete engine???

Interesting post...

I mate of mine who was changing a sump gasket used a piece of short wood to lever open the gap ( the engine was a ford V8 lump) he was then somehow distracted and eventually put the new gasket back in bolted the whole lot up.
Well the engine managed to get to Avon park but on the way home things went from bad to worse ....the piece of wood after going round the bottom of the sump a couple of million times knocked off the oil pick up and then no oil pressure thus new bottom half of main block needed......seemed funny at the time but..not so when it comes to an engine rebuild. He got plenty of stick over that !!!!...

I think someone filled the sump deliberately, perhaps they thought it would trap moisture or something? It all looks very dry and rust free, perhaps it's a little known top tip for long term storage......

Slightly different l know, but a mate of mine a long time ago, bought a Charger with non-working electric windows, thought he'd sort it easily enough.

Removed the door panels to find both motors were missing, and the glass held up by 2 pieces of wood!!!!
