Well I might as well join in as a fully paid up member of the snow patrol...I had to drive down to Mister Benn's to drop off some weaponry and pick up some racing parts. left his house at about 10.45am planning to drive to Hemel to drop off some manifolds to the twins.
I then spent seven and a half hours trying to get back after being stuck for more than five hours on the A34 in a blizzard.
and this was the road to work this morning...there is a road there...somewhere...

bad crack that Ivor, I drove from Kircaldly in fife yesterday back home to sunny cramlington, A1 was almost zero visibilty & snowing like hell, cars off all over the place, never above 50 mph & the fast lane was just the suicide lane

went to work on friday night at 23:00
aircon external units set to stop if it got to - 5*c
machine room reached 5o* centigrade
everything shut down
aircon man looked and left. said nout he couild do
eventually got him to come back at 4:30 am and he reconfigured the things to work down to -18*c
left work at 14:30 on saturday no sleep
took me 4 hours to get from watford to twickenham
3 of that was getting out of watford....
rediculous
sat next to a shell tanker on a hill.
If he put is brakes on he slid backwards and the cab started to flop one way or the other
so he sat there for 1/2- 3/4 an hour with the back wheels turning just holidng it... and inching up as 1 or two cars moved
1 mile queue of cars behind us both
failed traffic lights in front
no one coming out of retail park would stop to let us move...idiotic free for all
impressed i was with his nerves or steel in 1 very long slow burnout
he looked a little stressed.....
now why was the M25 still snowy when the M3 was perfrectly clear
where are the snow ploughs?
i remeber as a kid with my dad, following the ploughs up the M6 past keswick and over shap....
they even used to snow plaugh residential streets
you'd end up with a 2 foot barrier of ssnow across the end of ya drive
but the road surface was ace for sledging
i haven't seen an operational snow plough in years.....
gritters yes
where's the plough.....

The Greater Knapweed near the Mugwort by the Buckthorn tree is dying
It's very beautiful Clivey - well worth a visit. I wouldn't recommend trying to walk the entire length of the Seven Sisters at the base of the cliffs (unless you are a very good swimmer!), but you can walk along the clifftop from the Seven Sisters Country Park to Beachy Head (about 10 miles). Parking at the Seven Sisters Country Park (and Beachy Head) is very expensive though.
I like to park at the East end of Seaford Promenade (which is free) and walk over Seaford Head (in the picture above) to the Cuckmere river and back. As you approach the Cuckmere you get a stunning view of the Seven Sisters. You can explore the base of the cliffs at the Seaford or Cuckmere ends.
Another good base is the pub car park at Birling Gap, right in the middle of the Seven Sisters. You can get down to the beach, walk East along the top to Beachy Head via the Belle Tout lighthouse, or West back to the Cuckmere (the most imposing cliffs that you can walk under are just East of the Cuckmere).
PM me if you want more detail - I don't want to hijack the snow thread

I crawled out of my sick bed on Saturday to go to Morrisons, an Iceland artic was stuck on the hill and still there on the way back so I stopped to offer a hand (I thought this will be a bit of a challenge).
The first pic is just after I snapped my tow strap so we got some tie down straps out of the back of the trailer. We'd started just after where the van is turning around.
Anyway we managed to get the artic to the top of the hill, the driver was really happy after being stuck there for a couple of hours and I was once again impressed with the Jeep!
