Now when I was working with Jeep in the UK.... They told me that a lot of the 4L motors used in UK cars, were being built in Italy, and the build quality was crap!

Over here 400,000 Kilometers is regarded normal for a 4L, and 800 is not uncommon if serviced well. But they certainly hold the value over here, unlike the UK, Probably down to fuel and road taxes.
I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!

Yes, it's the VM diesels that are made in Italy, in a partnership with Detroit Diesel. There were a lot of problems with the 2.5 CRD, but the current 2.8 CRD is better.

All (5 million) 4.0 petrol motors were made in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I'm a big fan of them - mine has 93k on it, but it still gets straight zeros on the MOT emissions. I've always thought it strange that 4.0 Wranglers hold their value, but 4.0 Cherokees don't. Having said that, prices have doubled recently!
