Which shifter are you fitting ? You may find that you don't need to mod the switch. It may work happily as it is.

Check the B&M website for install instructions ;)

Since when was there wiring to the shifter??

The selector on the trans operates the switch internally. It works by providing an earth to the starter relay. All you need is a wire from the relay ground terminal to the center pin on the trans safety switch.

I see Jerry. Slight mistake in your answer there though as it is just a wire from one of the spades on the starter relay to the center pin on the trans switch.

I have seen this relay terminal just wired to a ground next to the relay before. This will work but of course the car will start in gear like this.

My old hurst shifter had a 'gate' that activated the microswitch in park/neutral , when switch made contact the starter solinoid would recieve a ground , i assumed this was the case with Paddys setup............when i tossed the shifter & went with the coloum shift i rewired & fitted new inhibitor switch , car was originally a 4 speed so maybe that's why the wireing was a mess. :dontknow:

On a 4-speed car you need a switch somewhere if you feel the need for a safety switch.
There is no need for one on a Mopar automatic because you are going to have the switch in the trans body anyway. :thumbright:

Yes Dave , not rocket science , but if the guy who had this car previously to me did'nt hook the safety switch via the inhibitor then it was what it was , why he did it this way i have no idea............................WAIT.....maybe he was sick of those inhibitor switches that leak internally & seep trans fluid all over the pins/harness rendering the switch useless , you don't want to know how many i went through.
