Windshield polishing- any successes?

I stupidly tried to remove weld spatter (which i stupidly got all over the Truk glass) with a razor glass scraper which has scratched it to buggery

...and no of course i didn't try a small test area 1st

I can't afford a replacement screen and i daren't take it out anyway- it may be all that's holding the roof up...

My research had brought up Ceruim Oxide (trade name Regipol) as the best finishing polish and 3m Trizact discs as the best abrasive.

Can anyone confirm/ deny/ advise? Cheers!

Erm i used the same polishing kit that I used for alloy that made a few windscreen wiper marks less bad than they were

i know you going to think its crazy , but have removed scratches , by wet flatting scratches with 800 to 1000 grit , then give it a hiding with a mop & liquid G3 or the old G6 then G3 or 3M fast cut or the trizact one with the mauve top , only good with toughend glass , or laminated (if you have done lots before) as you need use lot of pressure & ovioulsy heat up & can crack !!!
even quite deep ones you can improve on.

Cerium Oxide is aka Jewellers rouge. I've tried that but without much success. I also used some 3M cutting compound with a foam polishing head (in my electric drill - don't have a polisher).
I made little enough progress that I temporarily gave up and moved to other things - BUT, I need to get back to it and I know others have had success - dunno what I am doing wrong. Ivor did it very successfully on his Runner, and now Steve has chimed in so clearly it can be done.

If the archives were still around there was a decent thread on this.

Anyway, I still need to do the same as you so look forward to more replies, in the meantime a few links to consider

I use jewellers rouge mixed in a little vegetable oil on a soft cloth. Yes,it works,slowly, but I have done several screens now and I've not found another successful method.
