Brakes - Safety Switch connector?

Post by RobTwin »

Hi all

We've got a new Safety Warning light Switch / Hydraulic System Safety Switch / Distribution block (pick your own description!) - see pic below, but our old, orignal connector could do with replacing as the threaded (ribbed?) portion that's supposed to slide over the end of the new switch, doesnt.

Has anyone got a spare / old (but serviceable) connector, maybe attached to an old bit of loom, that we could have/buy?

Not sure what the thread is, if indeed it is threaded, and not just ribbed. We've tried measuring it and it looks like No8 ANF (0.164” dia x 32 tpi).

Also tried a small starter motor connecting nut and also a spark plug collect, neither of which fit.

See below - arrow should help if you cant tell what i'm on about!

:help:

Cheers

ford 70s/ 80 early 90s low tension terminal plus & minus for coil are the sameish & will work
Thanks steveo, again :thumbright:

The old connector never did fit properly; we think it had a bit of wire jammed up it to make the connection  Bit of a bodge, but it was like that for donkeys years :?
Whether it worked or not's another matter

BTW Stu says he did try an old coil LT lead (off a Cortina, Capri etc) but I that was too big, maybe 5mm over a 4.2mm screw?

Let us know if you find your old one - all donations gratefully received :)

I'm sure there was a plug with a bit of wire on the one I gave Derek I will ask him if he still has it.
