Newbie says - Hey Charger

Post by Sideways »

Hi there,

An introduction from the newest recruit to the Oz Mopar scene. Purchased last month a Valiant Charger mid restoration from a nice chap in Lincoln.

Intend to resto as a muscle car rather than straight classic resto, hence the paint job - Sublime with Bonnet scoops and the sound of that V8 motor.

Would like to make contact with others VH Charger owners for some advice ref sourcing bits and general know how. I gather theres only 5 in the UK !

Anyone know the best contact for RT striping, i.e sides and front wing in black ?

Intend to attend a few meets, shows and York Raceway could be on the horizon for a bit of fun.

Calling out to you from Cheshire area.

Best Regards,

David

Welcome David, I thought this was the car when I saw your membership application.
My VH is a VJ. RT striping is best to be painted on, masking kits available from;-

Hemi Performance

http://www.hemiperformance.com.au/store ... &catId=128

PPR - Pentastar Perfromance Parts
http://www.pentastarparts.com.au/sunshop/

Have a trawl through the Australian cars section on our forum, there is lots of info.

rather than a kit, you could just carefully mask up, as Bazbiker did on his orange one, I have photos and measurements from a genuine R/T as does Dave 999.
Stickers for the stripes will be hard to fit.

Between us we can help with most things, ie where to go or we might even have the bits in the loft for a rainy day.

You think? Maybe next year. I still need to get it on the road here. Got to pay the last of the tax and then the dreaded EU Control. It could be a nightmare as its been modified to an extent, ie Exhausts coming out of the sides. I just need to pull my finger out.

Welcome, nice to see this one turn up on here, your in the right place David.
Dave999 posted up a comprehensive list of links for parts suppliers & specialists in Aus & as MattH says most of us have a few bits laying around.
Be looking forward to seeing you & your car at some of the shows in the not to distant future.

Cheers Steve

Dunno, they where taken by the last owner, its all I could find as the ones I took and posted here have been lost.

Its good to see all the money we pay the Club being put to good use, ie subsidising Connected, instead of a reliable Forum. :read2:

Welcome David :thumbright:

I had a look at your car last year when it was still in Lincoln as i had bought some bits from the then owner, did you also get the rest of his spares when you bought the car?

From what i remember it didn't need much to Bananarama! for the MOT.

I used 5mm fine line, allot of masking tape and paper for doing the stripes on my Charger and a bit of the old eye-crometer to get it looking like i thought it should ;)

This is my one

Set of "jelly bean" mags like Dave has. They just look right. Period correct, were an option, if I remember correctly, from my Dad's Ranger.

Mine are factory "jelly beans" as well made by ROH. Got them listed on the VIN tag.
