Pete that is a lovely home you have there. My idea of the perfect house. Great work being done too. Its a labour of love with that old stuff but when done it is envied by most. Keep the picutres coming.

Pete and Julie have done a fabulous job in the last year, I saw the house in the summer and again last month. Its a terrific project and a credit to them to get stuck in and achieve so much so quickly. It also is a place that makes me look tall!

Nice house, but sound like so far its been alot more pain than pleasure, does restoring an mopar now sound sound like easy work ??

Pete, I really do know where you are coming from, that is already an epic achievement and you and Julie deserve a medal just for taking it on.

This is no different from restoring a rare old Mopar really, you have to do the best job you can afford to do to make the thing practical, while appeasing the experts that you have maintained its historical significance.

The rendering you've done is far easier than the wattle and daub and lime render route!

Thanks for all the very positives comments, guys.
You really feel like you are swimming upstream all the time, especially as we were the only people to object to the build you now feel pretty isolated - some of you may already appreciate how hard it is to integrate into a small community (a bit like a newbie on here

)

That is where it IS nice to use the MMA message board, especially to have alight bit of banter as I often don't see anyone for several days due to working at home............

As Matt says, the place is very low downstairs - I am 5 foot 10 inches and my (sticky up) hair touches the beams. Upstairs is better with a surprising amount of headroom, but then due to the thatch the roof line is very sheer and intrusive. It makes getting furniture to fit a challenge, and I have found that Art Deco stuff tends to fit better due to the smaller size.

Most of the interior is exposed beams as well, and 3 big ingelnook fire places that are ten feet wide plus.

The "kitchen" is horrid and pokey....

Yeah, well what I wanrt to know is what has it got to do with Mopars.

Do we still have 17 members in the club? only half a dozen post.
Even if it is non mopar related dribble which is of no interest!

Hi Bob, a prerequisite of using that would be to have a cavity

We managed to get some temporary central heating in before the bad weather hit, and that was a god-send, but it costs a lot to heat - well, does not ever place nowadays

Roydon was a star and helped swap over the oil tank, which as I mentioned previously split with 2000 lites of oil in it - he really saved my bacon; but fortunately there was next to no spill.

Fun pumping oil from one tank to another in freezing conditions in the dark. Why do we do this to ourselves????

I note your request Nick, but around here we have quite high class Pikeys (and a good number as well), and I am not sure that you would make the grade....

Is the oil on your heating tank close enough to Diesel that you can run it in your car? If so how much cheaper is the oil than Diesel?
