I'm fitting my rebuilt engine this weekend. I'm familiar with the break in process except for the cam. The cam/followers have a 1,000 miles wear on them. Do i still go ahead with the full break in process
ie
20 mins x 2,000rpm with fully lubed cam/followers/valve gear?

Miles
I'd say if the followers were put back onto the same lobes, which they ought to have been really with a used cam then you would be ok.
If the've got mixed up then you're going to have to break it in and hope for the best. Survival depends a lot on spring pressures
Gm do an additive called EOS which is the dogs for cam break in, I stock it although it's no use to you 300 miles away...

Will,
its all matched (comp cam parts) so the springs are up to pressure. I must confess, being used to adjustable rockers i'm a little concerned at the apparrent play in the hydraulic set up!

Don't worry about the slop, the lifters will do their job and pick up the play. I'd cam lube it anyway.
