Al's Nats report!

Post by Alex »

Hi y'all, just got home from a fantastic weekend!

We checked the oil on the car on Friday morning and set sail for the Pod, had a pretty good run down, I was worried because we had done little milage in the car but it behaved flawlessly they whole way except the fuel guage went bad when we filled up at Watford Gap. Speaing of 'passport control' we called Guy on the way down and they waited for us to get there so we could finish of the run in convoy, that was great fun following Guy with James, Dean and Nicky behind in their Mopars and Mary in the chase car!

When we got there we found a spot to camp in the much smaller area and set up the tents etc, we were really tired and after Pete & Ronnie and Matt & Mandie had joined us we just kicked back and relaxed while they pootled off on the cruise!

SAT! Time to play :D Got signed on and decided to run the car in full street trim (too lazy to do any tuning!) Laurs wrestled the keys away from James for her first run down the strip so I offered to run in the other lane so she knew who was there. we got down to the line, staged and away! Well for my first run in this car I was gentle off the line then just let it run down, I got no spin and the car ran straight and the motor sounded good, got to the end and I thought it felt OK, maybe a 14.3?? got back round and a beaming Steph came over and told me the car went 13.7 on that pass, I was blown away, talk about a happy camper!

Second run I loaded the car a bit more on the line, it dug a bit harder, still no spin and away, I shifted 3rd a bit later and it did not feel as hard, oh well I thought, try again! then I am told it went 13.6, how cool is that!

I decided to lift up the snubber for the third run, tried the same launch and shifted earlier, result? 13.4!!!!!!!!! how happy am I :D

Parled the car up at that point and went to spectate, fantastic racing all day and the night stuff, although limited because of some light rain was a sight to behold.

Sunday we decided to relax a bit so parked the car in the show and shine and spent the day on the MMA stand or catching up with folk, a great day, left earlyish because of the long run home, again the car behaved except for a bit of pinking after a 3/4 hour traffic jam but hey, at least it didn't overheat!

It was great to meet so many new people and catch up with so many old friends, hello to you all ! special mention to Pete and Ivor for flogging to get the cars ready in time, Pete had a ball and ran some great numbers considering the time he had to prepare, well done mate.

Ivor's car looks brill, well done mate, Comm Pow looked like the Cheshire cat cruising in the T/A !

Thats all coz I don't want to bore you any more LOL except to once again say a huge thank you to Tony, Jim Richard and Tim for an outstanding event once again, I don't know how you guys do it but I am so glad you do! THANKS guys !
