Giles is about to email and find out just how rotten it really is - looks like it was about to be bangered by the sign writting though! :)

Fancy that charger once they've knocked £11k off the price!

This one I am so glad to see despite the awful grille.
It was built up properly by a bloke in Hitchin called Dave who runs the Clutch Care center. He had it all retrimmed and good paint in orange. Not seen it since.
That was ten years ago and it doesnt look much different now. I was offered it for £2500 back in 2000 as nearly finished, about the same as it looks here.
I might have a run past there to look as I have to go to Watford sometimes.
Dave also had RGU4L as a spares car, another red 318 770.

Go get yourself that VE Giles!
Don't forget that we know where there is a VE in a wreckers yard if you find this one needs a few parts you may be lucky to find something worth having there.

Forget about the Charger, if they think it's worth that much they will never sell it for a realistic price.

Good luck mate!

Whats a realistic price? One that someone without £15k to spend can afford? If that car is up front, solid and in top condition, its worth that all day long to someone who wants one and doesnt want to spend every weekend under the bonnet, or chasing rust round it.

Trouble is, all our memories are too good because we can remember the cars being worth FA. Life is different now. Mk1 RS Mexico's go for £35k and more in good condition.

I think Pagani Zondas should bhe reduced to £5k so more that love them, can afford them. Its just not fair.

your point is fair...

but it depends on how long the vendor wants to wait for the right customer to come along.

the Mk 1 escort is well known both here and in Aus
they sell for big money here and slightly inflated but not unreasonable money over there, but there are still bargains, which is why people are going to Australia and bringing them back

the Charger is known exceedingly well in Aus and by the odd Sweeney and professionals viewer over here

the Aussies have been coming to get the odd one back....but there are still loads in Aus and still very few people over here who care about them.
On top of that the ones in the UK are usually rusty as hell, and yer average aussie believes rust is infectious, importing rust is like importing foot and mouth, you just don't, its un-Australian

as a usable solid mopar no reason why it shouldn't be worth 15K

but more people know what a dodge dart is in the UK and they are certainly not selling for 15K.

which means if you want to sell something now the market dictates what you get.
if you want to sell something eventually........thats a differenet kettle-o-kippers.

we are in a recession....now is the time to enjoy what ye have and sell it later when things pick up...isn't it? unless you lost everything at the dogs, and have not a hapeth of tar to your name
