Definately won't fit.
One of the down pipes would need to be bent about an inch.
Its not the length, but the gerth thats the problem...oooo....errr..misses.
Mini starter is the same as the guy sells on ebag.
Apparently the starter I had before, a Master Quality 3250, was prone to breaking down, so a 3257 is a direct replacement, but tougher. We will see!!

Something is very wrong. Even with 2-inch primary header tubes I have loads of clearance. Never ever heard of anyone with this issue. So either that starter is not the usual mini type or your headers are different to everyone elses.
Mini starters are never wider than stock starters. And headers are designed around stock starters.
ya know what those headers are for a 383 and someone shoved them on there with a shoe horn since the 383 has a lower deck there is less room, I know this because I have a set of both and although they bolted on, the motor there was very little clearance,
You could be right! 383 headers on a 440.
I ordered the headers for a 440 but they are a really tight fit !!!
Standard starter fits fine though.
Maybe this is where the problem is!!
Think I'm gonna stick with these headers for now and a standard starter.
Its the back of the motor on the mini starter that fowls my headers, the stock starter is narrower there.
You got me thinking though - i'm gonna have another wrestle with it now, but I'm sure it won't fit!!

Yes agreed, more expensive full length headers such as tti and Dougs are much more application specific and quality and fit is much better, you get what you pay for and all that. All the cheap shorty headers like hedman etc, list only one header for B or RB applications and to be honest I've found the fit to be fine on either, that particular set I've photographed were on a 383 that was in the car before with the same mini starter. The only dink is to clear the drivers side torsion bar and even that is only slight if your mounts are in good condition and you've taken the time to get the engine sitting level in the car, which does take a little time and effort, but makes a big difference clearance wise.
Well good news - thanks for all the encouragement!!
Had one last stab at it - and got the mini starter on, and headers on, but they do touch - couldn't/daren't tighten them right up, so it was out with the marker pen, blow lamp and persuader.
It fits now!!
Blimey its tight though, both to the headers and the terminals to the block!!
Thats about the 5th place I have had to flatten slightly on that side header.

Wrap the tight runner(s) in heat resistant material or you will cook the starter.
I had this problem with my car when it was 0riginally shipped over. One of the runners needed a spank with a hammer to get it to clear the ministarter. I then wrapped heat deflecting mateerial around runner.

Yup. My spangly new TTIs needed a battering to clear the steering. Plus I had to shim the engine mount...

Definately sounds more refined now and starts much easier.
