Thankfully I am at work, I used to like Billing during the late 80's and 90's and used to camp over the whole weekend had a great laugh but the mood of the place changed for me at the end of the nineties there were more and more reports of trouble caravans and cars being broken into and the atmosphere had gone. I still attended but would not camp anymore this was until the arrival of the complete numpties dressed as American highway patrolmen who thought they were gods  They totally ruined the event for me, shame as it was only 30miles from here .

its just a place on a brown sign like

Mother shiptons cave
or
the heights of Abraham

i have been to Jorvick with its authentic viking smells, and had a photo taken of me with my head and hands in some Stocks

which was nice

I only live 20minutes away so for me its an easy day out. I never realised there was issues with sneak thiefs, surprising considering the number of pikey spunkers on site
My brother stays overnight and he don't have any hassle, but he gets well tanked up in the beer tent and can't see straight
You're dead right about the tastefully decorated dayvans...............and the stalls of absolute tatt................and I take it thats the same total quality that appears at Notts Americana??????????????......nice ;)

Notts Americana is worse. Not sure who that show is aimed at. Its almost as if it was for those who wish they hadntn been born here.

Clivey
I have never been to this cave.
Believe it to be a geological structure, i.e an actual cave, rather than any relation to the fish mitten

bit like cheddar
but not as good

or wookie hole...never been there but it looks good in books and on blue peter

Ok, I have been to Billing a number of times in the last few years and yes, there are the following types....

Genuine holidaymakers who come and have a look at the cars. But also some Pykee types who happen to be at Billing anyway cos the council have had to rehome them. They walk around the show asking dumb ass questions and leaning on the cars with their fake Gucci metal belt buckles.

The YMCA policemen with their handlebar moustaches trying to re-innact a Dukes of Hazard or Blues Brothers chase.

Blues Brothers/Bo and Luke type dresser uppers for the above.

Mick Fleetwood lookalikes with a big hat and "Country Rules" leather jackets.

Dayvans- some nice- some with said Dolphins/Wolves/Indians/Terminator murals

And a bunch of Mopars at the bottom of the field laughing at the Corvette club people roping off "their" section.

I have camped with my kids and have had no problems, in fact the showers and loos have been updated. The "fun" fair is Bananarama! though.

Not for everyone but still some genuine nice Mopar/Chevy/ford peeps there.

Its not all about speed Clive, ask your wife..... :thumbright:

"Lifestyle" events  Patronised by the types that publish classic american mag. Probably 75% of them don't even know what's under their hoods. I always have and always will steer clear of these types of "events"
