I couldn't understand why my new (72 318) Dart has such sloppy steering when my ol '75 Dart had good positive power steering.

Read the article on 'Pump it down'

Basically the /6 cars (like my '75 car) had much firmer power steering than any of the V8 factory cars.
Essentially, the article claims that by changing shims in the power steering valve you can firm up the steering for free!
Well worth a look and one for my list!

Everyone has done it here round these parts! It works really well... I have the printed matter for the conversion somewhere. I have not done it yet.

Nice one Dave, 'cept at that point i'd sold me Mopar and wasn't reading tech!
Does sound like a good fix and i'm going to see what pump i have.
