searching through exchange & mart in the mid 80s would pick one up at 6am every thursday , & southeast trader every friday that was 10p then 
missed a 69 charger R/T four speed bronze , tan interior , only 5 minutes away , think it was either 1800 or 2600
. there weren't really any mopars in street machine forsale , then in 1988 bought a new mag that just come out,! Classic american , a classic car /50s truck dealer just imported a 68 charger , but was sold , said he could get me any thing i wanted , & the rest is history , because of importing mine , he had soo much interest in chargers from potential customers , he started importing hundreds , well a good few anyway , & having them built to order for customers !! my car came over with the Ex Skippys/ MR wilsons Y2 68dart GTS , could of bought that also at the time , for a good price as the buyer dropped out !!
got all tune up parts etc etc from rodley motors & gasoline alley !! few brakers ! one by black wall tunnel & one at little dummow essex was breaking a 69 charger , after getting hemmings delivered rang a few places in the us for parts , year one , PAW , & jacks auto parts - when i ordered from him he said never shipped out side the US before ! look how times change !! all arrived with 2 weeks , use to be really time consuming to track down parts , luckly there were only a few things missing from mine , then just wear & tear stuff that would be sorted when i done the nut & bolt rebuild 12 years later course by then all the repop stuff were comming about , but some things you really still need to track down the original stuff if you can

used to buy NE auto trader & E+M every thursday morning & go straight to both American & the salvage sections. From 1988 till the Internet really got hold, eBay etc circa 2006.
Always seached the classified in classic American & I used to be in both Scotland & Yorkshire often & would get there local autotraders @ the first opportunity, funny there was always more muscle for sale in the Yorkshire auto trader than both the Scottish & NE ones put together.
Bought my first 2 yanks 67 mustang & 76 vette out of the auto trader & both lucky sellers had them gone within 24 hrs of the mag been on the shelf, now things take months to sell unless your giving stuff away.
First cars I ever bought & sold before the auto trader were via cards in local shops windows & for sales signs stuck in the rear quarter windows
Used to go round the local main dealers & buy there scrappers & do them up, with rover sd1's or 3.0 capri been the weapon of choice
I think the thames valley trader was the first autotrader type mag I can remember ??

yeah the old thames valley trader , use to get that also , had loads of good salvage in there back then !
getting back to the southeast trader , there was a 70 superbee in there around a bout 86 , was 2200 but still no takers at 1800 , got pictures somewhere , saw that first at manston drag strip , back in 85 , gave me my first taste of open header music
