I got this as a wedding present from my missus, started it today for the first time. 1980 MG BGT

Now where is that Rover V8 I had........

Come on purists, should I or shouldn't I do a V8 on it

if you do a V8 on it

i think unless you use the odd bolt on plenum that sticks a pair of SUs right up near the bulkhead at an odd angle MGBGTv8 specific

you will need to go bulgey bonnet....don't think you can easliy fit something like an edelbrock 500 + air cleaner on top and shut it

Done that back in 1974 to a MGB rodster. Dave right about the carbs and manifolds cant fit the standard bonnet. I got to know Ken Costelow and bought a tear drop bonnet off him and I also fitted a crane cam, offy manifold and 600 holley.

I was in one of those MGs last year and i struggled to get in and out! so i don't know how Si is going to manage?

He has had to leave me in here all i wanted to do was sit in the drivers seat,it was a case of a good kick to get me in,but ive now been stuck here a couple of days,crow bars,pipes,he has even farted nothing seems to be able to get me out

Leave it as a 4 pot, it will be lots of work and still not worth loads.
They are quite nice to drive as is, manual and Overdrive.
I toured Scotland in one, quite comfy and nice exhaust and engine note.
