More 80's MMA meet photos

Post by Adam »

Just sorting through some old photos, and found this one from that first MMA meet at Brighton Black Rock in 1983. Not a bad turnout for the first MMA only meet. The previous year's event in Preston Park was a joint effort with the MOCGB (I took my 66 Mustang to that one!).

In the evening, some of us drove up to the Withdean Stadium for a drink.

The orange RHD 68 Barracuda in the foreground was my cousin David's, and my blue 68 Satellite is 3 cars to the left of it.

I also found this one, when a bunch of us went to Brands Hatch. Would have been around the same time, early 80's. The black 68 Charger R/T belonged to Steve Gorringe, who ran the MMA with his wife Sharon at the time.

i say a superb turn out matey, for the time and communication resources,

also just think about it a little bit, it would be like getting a gathering of say 1994-2000 yr cars together now almost seem to recent to want to get a gathering/meeting so already everyone is thinking the cars are rare/collectible or special in someway, i dont think there is anycars from the 90-s that you would want to assemble somewhere..........

Thanks guys. I also found this one, of me warming the tyres before beating that Boss 302 in the other lane. Not bad for a 318!

I see our Satellite's in the 1st 2 pics, but you cant blame us for parking the opposite way to everyone else as it was 2 years before we bought it!

Think we also went to that Withdean Stadium when we went there... 85 or 86?

I see also Mo's barracuda (red w/white vinyl) was at Brands too. Wonder if that will ever see the light of day again? :(

Great quality pics as ever Adam :thumbright:

Yes, that's Rob. I haven't seen him in about 15 years.

Looks like George (green 69 Bee) in black trousers on the right of that photo.

In the side view, I see Geoff (red 69 GTX) in the pale blue shirt, and Dave (too many Mopars to mention) in the stripey shirt.
