Just got back from the MOT station, sorted :thumbright: Mind you sitting in Tottenham traffic in 25 degree heat wasn't much fun, especially the way they drive round there....
First time I've driven the car since last October, I managed to clock up a whopping 229 miles since the last test, I need to get out more

Hmm, not out of the woods yet, still got the detonation issue (at least I hope that's what it is) going to try it on some C12 next week. If that don't sort it it's engine teardown time...

Still trying to get the six pack running right on the Belvedere as well, I've had the carbs apart that many times I'm surprised all the threads haven't stripped...

Chuff the old Belv up to the Nats and Robbo might like a challenge! ;)

As far as the detonation is concerned on the Dart, yep crappy fuel quality doesn't help, it's not something silly like your heads are modded and there's an overlap of copper gasket poking into the combustion area?

Just trying to think out of the box, rather than the usual compression, cylinder pressure type things...

Do you run 97 octane Blue.
My old motor was just over 11.1, 37 thou quench and never detonated on 97, revved it to 7000.
The rpm and heavy reciprocating assembly killed it.

Took me a while to get mine right but never stopped "tweaking" it until the day I sold it.

I'm sure that if I was working with a conventional six pack manifold I would have had it cracked ages ago. Trying to tame a race manifold with a huge plenum is the challenge. I might start a separate thread rather than hijacking this one.
