Are C-Body Torsion bar dust boots the same as B & E -Bod

Post by UsuallyMopar »

It's only taken 9 months, but the re-bushed steering & suspension my '70 Sport Fury is nearly back together.

Now I need some new dust boots that fit at the rear of the torsion bars but the catalogues only list for A, B & E-Bodies. The ones Firm Feel supplied are made of polyurethane and no way can I get them over the ends of the bars (tried softening in hot water & stretching with a socket), so beware!

Does anyone know if C-bodies use the same as B's & E's please, as Chris @ WASP can get me some if they are?

Forget the hot water and soap......................fill em up with silicone grease and they pop on as if by magic, honest :thumbright:

Thanks Guys, you are both right.

I only have one side suspension assembled at the moment, so have got one boot on to the loose bar using silicon grease. I am hoping to get that bar in from the front, but something tells me the exhaust will be in the way... The other side ain't so easy when lying on your back. Not the best way to get the force I need onto it but there's always tomorrow.

Cheers.

Ain't it easier from the back? should be no obstructions and make sure they go the right way in ffs or you'll be in for a shock when you road test it :thumbright:

Yeah, it is easier from the back, but then I have to get the boots on with the bar already threaded through the rear T-bar mount and I'm clearly not man enough for that

Update. Got the other boot on easy. Hairdryer to warm it up and some silicon grease.

I did get some of the B-Body boots and they don't fit. At least not on the thicker 1.18" T-bars I'm using. Anyone need a pair, just message me.
