Hot rod drags

Post by starsk's »

Hi alll
Don't look like I can chase my 12 at the drags as every year I always out of curtesy ask if I can attend, so I did again this year and have been told no as pre 73 only I normally run under radical ? And I won the dirty dozen trophy one year
Admin bloke says I must have slipped through but every year I get permission to avoid confusion at the gate
I have sent another e mail so hoping for change of heart 
Very sad starsk's

I had to persuade them that my old 74' Dart should be allowed in. I managed, but there is no way I reckon they would let me run the Grand National so I won't be going.
Annoying considering i saw a 1978 Chevy Malibu with a big block racing at two previous events:roll:

I suppose the Malibu came in under the heading of "radical"...or was it a stocker Miles?

Ivor, the Malibu was a good performer and far from stock. My point and am sure Wendy is probably of the same view is that both her Torino and my old Dart fitted the bill for a muscle car/hot rod event.
When i pleaded my case at the entry tent, the guys said they liked my car, but some of the hot rodders may complain.
Anyway, in my case its old news, but i'm not driving a 500 mile round trip if I can't take part, so i'll be sitting tight this year.
Long may the Mopar Nats continue to be flexible :thumbright:

You're too honest, just put 72 on anything written, no one will notice.
The other year there was a late 80's transit running with a v8, no way they should of got away with that.
Your car being a musclecar, at least, is within the spirit of the event.

That the phrase I was searching for 'in the spirit of the event' as Mick says.
