What goes around comes around.

I never thought young kids would ever get interested in the 60s/70s Fords I used to be well into in my early 20s. I bet every old Ford me or my Dad ever owned has long since been scrapped.

But look what has happened. The demand for them is going through the roof!

Hot Rodding started because kids could only afford old junk cars.
I got into Mopars partly because they were cheap for what you got.

When anything gets popular it gets expensive. Which is one of the reasons I now DON'T own a Mopar.

Why should I pay £12K-£18K (nearly as much as I get paid in my hand in a year) for an old bit of junk that has been bodged, badly maintained, uses twice as much fuel as anything else on the road and only runs 16s on the quarter?

Ive had allsorts, but Jap cars are just lifeless souls for me personally, yes skylines are supercars but no they are not, supercars have to have presence as well as performance.
In 2002 I didi the cannonball run to africa in big power R33 GTR fun as it was would have rather done it somethying more in keeping with the event like ferrari
I circuit race with a lot of real big power rice burners, yes they run well for the first couple of laps but are normally in a world of pain towards the end of 20 mins, with boost turned right down, intercooler heat soak etc

i can,t really see how you can call the new breed of skylines riceburners, there figures are Bananarama! awesome there aint a ferrari alive that could run with one, and if it could i bet it would blow up leaned on like you would want,
i have never had the slightest itch to own a ferrari not at all but i am tempted to have a skyline as a daily driver,

Actually i reckon you is right..................I take the pee out of the ricebags but i remember buying an Integra Type R new in '98 and it was the most exciting cross country or track day car I've ever driven, let alone owned, was a blast with its V-Tec boost, 200 hp and barely 1100kilos and amazing chassis, plus it really did have bags of character

You havin a mid life crisis Dunc,next thing youll be buying a motorbike with Bri

I have enough fun driving around in my £1500 dodge van(V8 of course)not fast,doesnt go round corners(at any speed

)but it does remind me why I enjoy old yanks.

Even if skylines were £1500,Id still have this old van

whilst i was waiting for my Dart to get MOT'd I was flicking through a copy of Classic Performance magazine. They had an article on tuning WRXs Imprezas.I couldn't believe how much it cost to make them really fast.Literally £1,000s of pounds.
Not exactly entry level performance prices.For the same money you could get my Buick into the high 10s.
Mind you, it still wouldn't go around corners

I have to agree, these Jap Rockets are the New Super Car, I did the One Lap of America last year and they came in 2nd & 3rd - this year they won - up against 911 RS lightweights, new ZR1's, Ferrari's........ the list goes on - a kid down the road from me won the lottery 18 months ago and bought a new GTR Skyline, one of the fastest cars I have been in on the road, then after 3 months sells it for a new Gallardo -

1 Transmission and few K later he wished he hadn't

£ for £ they are "The" super car of today in my eyes............ when you put these car's round the track they yern for more, not break like the others.
