Alittle more progress on the Coronet........

I ordered a new set of flexi hoses and wheel cylinders to sort out the brakes a few weeks ago :thumbright:

All went well until I opened the box to do one of the cylinders and found that 1 of the rubbers had a big split in it #-o so I had to wait for a replacement to arrive from the US before that little job could get finished, so lost a few weekends there unfortunately, but all sorted now :)

Master cylinder was shot too #-o good job I had a spare one kicking around. My mate took it apart for me just to make sure it was all ok. Seals were good in it, so that helped us out and prevented any further delays. Fitted that and then set about bleeding the system.
All done and adjusted up great. Non power drums and I've actually got a pedal  Makes a change with drum brakes

I haven't yet done the headlight relays spoken about above, but it is on the to-do list ;)

Also gave the dash a bit of a sort out too 8-)

Stripped it all out and gave it a good clean and gave the needles a repaint. Switches came up real good :D
Half the bulb holders were missing for some strange reason, so had to order a pack of those in too :ebay:

The switch panel and writing were beyond just a clean so they also had a repaint.

Pleased with the result.....

Been abit slow with this thread as I've been tinkering with the red '66 Coronet for a while that a friend and I bought (no not Big Red and Loud, the other one..... Small Red and Quiet) but I have been doing the odd bit here and there on the '68 to get it up to MoT standard.

I had it booked in for an MoT last Saturday morning, but on the way to the MoT station it decided not to play ball, and the carb sprung a leak.
Nothing drastic, but a leak none the less. Luckily for me I was only about a mile from home, and most of it was duel carriageway.

I've obviously had it running on the driveway in the past, and have gingerly taken it up and down the road to test the brakes out when I rebuilt them, but that's about it.
The journey to the test center was it's 1st proper road trip anywhere since I got it, and I guess under load it showed up another little fault, so I just turned around and went back home abandoning all hope of getting a test done.
As I said to the test center guy, I didn't want a fire in his workshop or under my hood :angryfire:

By the time I got back home it was coughing and spluttering all over the place.

So, after a text message or 2 a mate said he had a spare 2 bbl from his old Fury that I could use.
So last Saturday was spent tinkering on it to get it up and running again with the new carb. All's well now and it runs sweet.

So, booked it in for a test this morning and she passed :D :woohoo:

Just a couple of minor advisories, which to be honest, I was expecting as it is 43 years old after all

Next step..... Registration :thumbright:

Glad she passed mate. I'm sure the resto will go well & you'll end up with one hell of a motor!
