Moparfest 2011
Just got back from this years event..... Bigger and better than last year. They gave away two cars this year, a classic and a new Challenger. This show gives 100 per cent of the profit to charity!
3 days of Mopar magic for £10!

I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!
It all started to go pear shaped last week.... Problems with the Fury and the Cherokee kept me busy... That, and a lot of work... Then I noticed the strange noise from under the hood! Yep, the water pump bearings are making a racket, and there is a bit of play in the pump.
Decided to risk it... We planned to leave Friday eve. That was not possible due to the work load, so we set off for New Hamburg around 8.30 AM Saturday..
A nice sunny drive saw us there 2 hours later, we had pre registered so drove right in, and as I was a member of the Moparts board, was directed to that area.
I then met up with a few guys that have joined the Canadian message board I have started.... Had a wander round, then off to the parts area, looking for a 4 BBL intake for the Poly. I did find a 351 Hemi intake, and seemed to remember reading these were interchangeable with the Poly. But I was not prepared to take the risk...
We then returned to the car, I checked the Water pump... It was even looser, and was making a right old noise... OH DEAR!
We set off for the campsite a few miles away, set up the tent, just before the rain set in. Then off to the cruise.... The heavens opened up again, just like last year! It was a bit of a washout, so we returned to the campsite. This is where things turned nasty..... wait for the next instalment.... Where I nearly lost the tent, the car and me! Yes, beer was involved!

Around 8 o’clock saw us back at the campsite… It was still raining and the firewood, tent everything was wet. Very wet! So I do the obvious thing and open the beers. Build the fire, add a little petrol… And Woof!! Instant fire. NICE….
Then it went out due to the rain. Simple add more petrol… WOOF! Opps, the grass is on fire next to the tent, and under the car… Oh Bananarama! the container is on fire too! I threw the container that really went up big time. Put out as much as I could with my feet and looked on at the large flames in front of me…. There was soon a crowd around me, and then a guy came out with an extinguisher! It was soon out. And so was my campfire. I few more beers and some cardboard, finally got the campfire going… Billy was a sleep… More beers, then hit the sack.
The morning was damp and cloudy, the car sounded awful, but we packed the tent up, and headed back to the show…. Nice brekkie of Burger and chips, washed down with a coke and some free coffee… Sun came out and we hit the vendor’s area again.
Found a replacement water pump for $10… And looked at the old hemi intake again. I was sure I read it was a good fit for the Poly. But did not take the risk.
Had a good old look around the cars, met up with some more Poly owners, Then it was prize giving…. After all the silly prizes and the engine blow comp, came the 2 big draws, one for a 2011 Challenger the other for a 1973 Satellite.
10 names drawn for the Satellite…. 9 guys and 1 70 something lady… All 10 line up, and each one draws a key from the hat. The key that starts the car, takes it home. It is a really nice looking car!
So the first 8 guys in line strike out, that leaves 1 guy, and “the little old lady from Pasadena”. Yep, you guessed it… She won it! The crowd went nuts. It was a though everyone wanted her to have it.
Then the draw for the Challenger saw a guy totally freak out on stage, when presented with his new shiny Black car!
That was it for another year… The car made it home all OK. But very noisily.
A job to fit in this week.
Oh, and that Hemi intake? Yep looks like it may of done the job.
Roll on Moparfest 2012, with the Duster 340 and an Orange Challenger as the giveaway cars.
Some pics to follow.
