If it were me, I wouldn't be limited by the South East.

I would look for the most reputable, good feedback, etc then compare their costs to budget available & make the travel accordingly.

As for posting in the wrong place, don't be too concerned, if those are are unhappy a mod can always move your thread.

Good to have people posting IMHO :thumbright:

Hi Mas, just move the thread, hope you dont mind! (if nothing else it should help you & others find it in the future if you remember the thread but can remember where it was)

Anyhoo... Bob Harman (BHP) in Watford has a good reputation round these parts for his machining work. He may be a Ford man but he does all sorts, specialising in US & race engines.

Bacca has done work for me. all good sorted my block and main caps out

XrN (trade only engine remanufacturing) has done work for me Via Dermott at Powerforpeanuts (he does heads he gets the rest done out sourced) granted they made mistakes with my crank but if they had got it the right size the frist time it was a nice grind. they did fix up what they did wrong and supply new bearings free of charge...(UK agents for King Race Bearings) suggest communication issues and assumtion of perfect main caps on their part. i.e partially my fault in one area but deffo theirs in another by half a thou

ive also used Bob harmann for other stuff cos i work 10 minutes down the road and he is a very nice man

there is another mob in surrey who are ex XRN staff that knightcharger on here has used for his ford truck work

Gosneys engineering in NE London have a good rep as well and have machines big enough to aligne bore a straight Eight

I get small work done at lenton engineering in watford as well

very good place for the odd bit of drop it off one day and get it back the next

they have spot faced LSD case bolt holes
drilled and retapped manifolds
built bits of throttle linkage

supplied offcuts machined to size for fuel pump blank off etc anything done in about an hour costs £20

for alloy bits, adaptors and pullys centreing and boreing trigger wheels i have Used TrevD on here always good and happy to help

in no particular order

Hi Dave.

Thanx for the big-up!
Its getting more and more difficult to do machining for Moparfolks as I no longer work at a machine shop.
The machine shop where I used to work were a V8 specialist company.
Mainly Rover/Tvr, but that market is almost gone now!
The shop no longer caters for the machining of V8 blocks etc.
They still have a good balancer, a must for V8's of course!!!
So with this in mind, we need to know the alternatives???

The two companies that come to mind are Gosnays and Benshams.
