Just back from Shakey. Place was fairy empty with only a few yanks, various bikes, rice burners n chavs. Met Jim n his bro n talked some BS, the three Mopes looked well together. Started to rain about 1,30 with a cold wind blowin so after a cuppa n stinky berger we came home. The drive was excellent there n back, good fun sliding these old planks around in the damp

I think i might try the pod tomorrow, track crew are a bit more on the ball.
I managed to flood the motor this morning, had to clean all the plugs, then it fired up, sounded fine, then went to work, got back, loading all my stuff.
Budgie, did any of you race today and if so, what was the track like.
Mick

None of us raced Mick. Jim forgot his wheel spacers for the slicks and me and Mal just went down for the ride out. It rained not long after we got there anyway and it looked like there was more to come so just as well.

rain cleared up around around 2.30 plenty of racing done after that but the bikes were prob more exciting to watch as to many hot hatches, spent the later part crewing for tony with orange jensen running 12,s. but he kept throwing alt belts off 3/4 track then on last run only 1 wheel spinning up in the bleach and spat a manifold stud out and dumped water under the rear tyre at half track and fishtailed to 3/4 track shut off and still went 12.5, not a bad day but as budge says poor attendance

keep it mopar !

Yeah went to the Pod Adrian, got there at 9.00 am and a bit cloudy. Lined up and signed on, 1st run throttle cable snapped on launch! 2nd run lost it it twice, spun it side on and nearly totalled the 'Bird and the 60 plate BMW i was up against - really scary. Went back to the truck to calm myself down and then found out the car behind me also lost it (right lane) They then shut the track and spent ages prepping it - anti freeze was apparently the culprit. By this time is was around 1.30 and the rain came and got worse so we loaded up and came home. Bit of a waste of time but had a great time with my buddies. Sorry to hear your Challys out of action - whats up with it mate?Adrian Worman wrote:Anybody at Pod or Shakey today? Weather is crap here in MK

I went today, wouldn't start off the trailer, whipped the plugs out dried them out, fired 1st turn of the key, pulled into line got near to the front started drizzling, hours passed so took the car back to the trailer, got to about 3.00, looked better so pulled back in line, got right to the front, a touch of rain, they quickly dried it, launched, car stepped out a touch, then went ran 10.75 at around 124, there was quite a head wind, went straight round again, bit better launch 10.62 about the same speed as previous run.
Let it cool for 1/2 hr by the trailer, then pulled back in line, got near to the front, then news came that a car had rolled, turns out it was a man and his son pitted next to me with a ford pop, first time out with a new more powerful motor, he did a rolling burnout through the bleach box, then hooked, went sidewards and flipped over. Saw them walk by, the lad was ok and his dad didn't seem to upset, said the car wasn't too bad.
Anyway got to the front, it was pitch black by now, after 5pm, flipped my headlights on, launched felt pretty good, pulled 2nd and all hell let loose, car went sidewards, nearly hit one wall, then swerved across the other lane and nearly swiped the other wall, shut off, coasted down to the end, the track crew guy at the end flagged me down and asked if i was ok, i said i was fine then went back to the trailer. Some of the hot hatch guys came over and started freaking out about my great driving , i just told them it was luck, and coerced one of them into watching me on the trailer.
All in all, i was lucky i didn't swipe it,the car ran fine
the overheating issue i had at the hot rods is sorted, didn't go over 190 but need a set of plugs and the car was a little lazy on the starter.
Saw the pettybird go by, when i first got there, glad you didn't prang it, if you see me again and need any help, i always take plenty of tools and a few spares.
Sorry about the length.
