dart brake issue

Post by gmopar59 »

had to slam on the brakes yesterday, some young girl decided to stop on a green light. Anyway after that the pedal went spongy and then went completely. Got it home and there was a burning smell. Checked the fluid this morning and no leaks under the car. Put her up and spun the wheels to see if both were spinning (suregrip). they were but the drivers side was not turning easily and i can hear a scoring kind of noise. Any advice please. Thanks, Gerry. Possibly you rear shoes are low and the extra force on braking had could have forced the arms out to far and now they cant retract properly. Take the drum off and see if all as it should and that nothing has broken or dislodged.

Sounds like the brake shoes are on the rivets, have you checked the brake cylinders, to see if one's leaking.

Also check the flexy rubber brake pipe on the brake that is binding, they can collapse internally and act like a one way valve.

wheel cylinders are fine. Brakes are back to normal. Just been on a 160 mile trip with no issues. Weird or what! Was told it may be the master cylinder so i'll have alook this weekend. Thanks, Gerry :thumbright:

Even Steve Davis wouldn't be able to decide between going for the pink or the brown in that shot.
