Mick wrote:I went today, wouldn't start off the trailer, whipped the plugs out dried them out, fired 1st turn of the key, pulled into line got near to the front started drizzling, hours passed so took the car back to the trailer, got to about 3.00, looked better so pulled back in line, got right to the front, a touch of rain, they quickly dried it, launched, car stepped out a touch, then went ran 10.75 at around 124, there was quite a head wind, went straight round again, bit better launch 10.62 about the same speed as previous run.
Let it cool for 1/2 hr by the trailer, then pulled back in line, got near to the front, then news came that a car had rolled, turns out it was a man and his son pitted next to me with a ford pop, first time out with a new more powerful motor, he did a rolling burnout through the bleach box, then hooked, went sidewards and flipped over. Saw them walk by, the lad was ok and his dad didn't seem to upset, said the car wasn't too bad.
Anyway got to the front, it was pitch black by now, after 5pm, flipped my headlights on, launched felt pretty good, pulled 2nd and all hell let loose, car went sidewards, nearly hit one wall, then swerved across the other lane and nearly swiped the other wall, shut off, coasted down to the end, the track crew guy at the end flagged me down and asked if i was ok, i said i was fine then went back to the trailer. Some of the hot hatch guys came over and started freaking out about my great driving , i just told them it was luck, and coerced one of them into watching me on the trailer.
All in all, i was lucky i didn't swipe it,the car ran fine
the overheating issue i had at the hot rods is sorted, didn't go over 190 but need a set of plugs and the car was a little lazy on the starter.
Saw the pettybird go by, when i first got there, glad you didn't prang it, if you see me again and need any help, i always take plenty of tools and a few spares.
Sorry about the length.
Mick
Yeah, glad you did'nt bend your car Mick but sounds like you had a good day. Certainly is scary going sideways at speed, i have to admit it shook me up a bit. Many thanks for the offer of help.

PETTYBIRD wrote: spun it side on and nearly totalled the 'Bird and the 60 plate BMW i was up against - really scary. Went back to the truck to calm myself down and then found out the car behind me also lost it (right lane) anti freeze was apparently the culprit

Were both of these runs close to each other and in the same lane??

I believe Pettybird's run was quite early, mine was one of the last around 5.30 in complete darkness but was the right lane as well.
It may have been a bit of dew on there, obviously, there'd been a lot of rain on it as well.
Did you go to shakey Guy ?

Yeah Guy, nice that its a good ending for both Mick and i and that the cars were'nt damaged. I took a van to my local paint shop today for a little tlc and got talking to the guv, he and his little lad went up on the Saturday to watch the top fuelers etc and said there were plenty of probs in the right lane, apparently a real quick Mazda RX got badly out of shape and rammed the wall - makes ya think dont it!

My other two runs were in the left lane.
There are some photos on eurodragster, one of the pop rolled over, apparently, they also had sunday on the live webcam.
After the disaster i had at the HRD's, just nice to get a couple of runs in before they close for the winter, didn't break any records but happy with the car in general and didn't have any real mechanical issues for a change.
