A-727 Manual Lever Shaft Seal - Where and how?!
The seal on the valve body manual lever shaft on the Torqueflite in my '70 Sport Fury has gone.
Any ideas where I can get a new seal from? Looks like it should be do-able with the trans still in the car, but any advice is welcome.

take your linkages of the selector stub sticking out off the case, drop the trans pan you now have 10 v body bolts undo them whilst you support the v body it will now come out it has a park rod that disapears in the extension housing it has a knob on the end that needs to slip past the parking pawl you might need to rotate the driveshaft to free it, once the vbody is out you can knock the lip seal out with a screwdriver, you will prob have to pull the new seal in with a long bolt and nut and maybe a socket the size of the seal then relocate the park rod end of the v body in to the ext hsg and bolt it all up
i have seals in stock

He isn't completely rebuilding a whole car and asking questions about every single step of that process though John. Keep it in context.JohnS wrote:So much better then "GO BUY A WORKSHOP MANUAL" lol
I would have given an answer very similar to Duncan's if he hadn't got in first.
