Steve, the rockers are correctlly fitted. i'll try the 360 pushrods, rockers etc and see if that takes up the clearence. If not, i'll measure the pre-load.

i think i might still have some sb adjustable rockers somewhere, i dont think i have any pushrods tho, i could check but 'm sure the rods went, if they're any use let me know, i think they were 273 originally but i know the last set i sold to a guy who was gonna use em on a 318, so i imagine, unless anyone knows otherwise, that they'll fit any sb ? ?25 plus postfor a quicky quick sale !

273 rods are shorter and set up for the adjusters. 318 and 360 are the same length unless it's a late 318 roller.

Miles, if the longer pushrods don't pre-load the lifters, you can buy adjustable pushrods.

Thanks Adam, anyone in the UK supply them?

Thats better!! Not perfect, but installing the rocker arms/shaft and pushrods has tightened things up a whole bunch. Doesnt sound anything like as rough now :)
the 360 gear is subtly different from the 318 stuff. The pushrods are taller and have smaller ends at the rocker tip than the 318 bits. Anyway, i might get some sleep tonight :sleepy2:

However passenger side downpipe is touching the end of the oil filter. thereis minimal clearance between the two. Should i be concerned?

In the longer term I have 340 manifolds to fit which clear the filter by some margin.
