Boot floor

Post by Derek »

First of all a huge big thank you to Anton as he has done most of the work.........................................About 17 years ago I had a couple of small holes in the boot floor, so not really thinking about it I lashed it up with some P40.

Forward about 15 years.

I was under the car putting in a new sender unit and could see the boot floor was the worse for wear and thought I must get around to doing something about it.

Well after the events last 14 month It's now time to get it done.

After talking to Anton we came up with the idea to just replace the center section.

Anton made up a patten close to the original on a piece of mdf then routed it out at work just before Christmas.
A few days later we went to Anton's work and beat Bananarama! out of the sheet of metal that was screwed to the mdf using a chisel with a bit of round bar welded to it. I must say it came out good considering it was all done by hand.

Today Anton came around to my garage and we cut out part of the old boot floor and partially fitted the new center section, cutting and bending as we went, also made up a seperate bit to go around the fuel filler pipe.

we only stopped as we run out of mig wire, will Bananarama! in the Sunday if I don't have a hang over, or Monday if I do.

We can't do it tomorrow as we are going down to Dave Powell to fit his newly built engine (guess who built it) gearbox and everything else that it needs to get it running, we went down a few weeks ago and re fitted all the interior chrome and lights, should have said that Dave had his Charger sprayed at Spectum Paint Worx, same place that has done mine a few times recently. Pics of Dave's Charger to follow soon.
