British labour is far too expensive because everything around us is overpriced. Property and land being the main culprits, which of course will also be a major factor in HS2.

I'm still not convinced that HS2 makes any sense whatsoever, but the decision has been made and I along with many thousands of others who will be effected will have to live with it.

Rubbing salt in the wound is the fact that HS2 is not going to benefit the British economy in design, construction and manufacture, with all this and future investment going abroad...we have the knowledge, the skills and the technology (look at formula one constructors) but as far as railways are concerned all our talent works for overseas based companies.

Yes, our labour rate is uncompetitive, but that's because of the high cost of living in the UK and the fact that we are paying sky high salaries to knob ends that are rewarded for failure.

I think this project is going to open a a gigantic can of toxic worms that will once again cost the country dearly.

And relax... ;)

Steve, thats a circular argument, and neither you nor I know the true answer to it.

A cup of poncey coffee costs £2.50 cos the fella serving it (called a 'barista' apparently)wants to be able to afford Dolce & Gabanna and drink in Hoxton & Shoreditch whilst stuffing copiuos amounts of columbian marching powder up his hooter, the manager of the codffe shop wants to distinguish himself from the riff raff by driving a nice 3 series BMW. The area manager MUST have a 5 series otherwise he will look like a store mamanger, and he wants 2 holidays a year, possibly kids in private school and, oh yes, he thinks he is entitled to a big salary and on it goes, in the coffee chain, the distribution chain and the manufacturing chain. So the coffee seller wants big dosh, so do the employees in the companies that: make the cups, make the lids, deliver the beans, make the lorries that deliver the beans, make the parts that make the lorries that deliver the beans, that sell the coffee to the people who make the parts to make the lorries to the deliver the beans because why shouldnt they be able to drink coffee at £2.50 a wallop........

And all this cash has to be generated from selling a cup of poxy coffee and a gay muffin for over a fiver. Over six quid if you eat in!!!!..

At least dick tyurpin wore a mask.

Steve, stop looking at it like a Milliband you red - in - the - bed you.
