Yes mate. Surprisingly well considering she hasn't done much driving for I don't know how longIvor wrote:Great news Jules, did the old girl drive okay?

Engine's sweet. Trans changes as sweet as. No rumbles, whines, creaks or anything.
The canister's shot on the dizzy, so wasn't the strongest of excelleration, but power was certainly there, and will be better when the timing can be sorted properly with a working canister.
Bacca's got a dizzy sat at his place waiting for me, so when I sort that out it should be even better.
I will just say though that this project is a "driver" car, and not a "rag the ass off it" car

It'll never be as powerful as alot of the other cars on here

I'm a happy lad just driving around with a 2:76 back end with a 318 up front enjoying good gas mileage for my dollar

Oh, and Patina is the new Black

There's a downside to having a reasonably fast car, they aren't very practical for road use, i thought about getting mine on the road but race fuel, heavy consumption, hard back suspension, soft front, noisy, no heater or much else.
I might buy something next year to poodle around in, 318 would be fine, reliable, quiet and reasonable on fuel, keep the race car for track only.
My mate up here has got a 68 Coronet with a 318 he got off Duncan, they are nice looking cars.
Enjoy driving it, fast isn't always best.

Not long after getting it on the road I took it out for a quick spin, and whilst going round a bend I heard abit of a clunk come from the front
Luckily I wasn't going too fast, nor was I too far from home (again), and when I got back home the top of the drivers wheel was leaning out a considerable amount
Giving the wheel a good shake revealed a knackered top ball joint
So, an order went in for a pair of ball joints and a set of upper control arm bushes.
Just as well do both ball joints, as I'm pretty sure that if 1's gone, the other won't be far behind
Also, I just as well do the top bushes at the same time seeing as the arm is out on the bench
So, last weekends little job was to sort it out (amongst other things with the '66)
What an absolute Bananarama! of a job. That little sucker did not want to budge.
So, a good soak overnight with Rocket40, abit of heat, and a scaffold pole on the end of my breaker bar and she finally let go

After the war I had with that side, I really wasn't looking forward to doing the other side (which I started tonight)
After giving the arm abit of a clean up, the new ball joint went in as sweet as a nut
A lick of paint and it looks as good as

As I said earlier, I started the other side tonight.
I've removed the arm and the bushes, but my trusty breaker bar couldn't handle this 1 and I broke it
The bushes didn't want to let go either
What a pig of a job that was
I think this ball joint is gonna be a right arse to get out.
