yes it was my car - I know Matt Jones who works for Top Gear now from Practical Classics days and he asked me if they could take some pics on a trip to the Ace classics night.

The point he was making in the article is a fair one - objectively, the brakes, handling and fuel economy are terrible compared to even the most basic modern box. And the new one probably won't explode in a cloud of steam on the hard shoulder of the M5 on one of the coldest nights of the year, as mine did just before New Year :D

But Matt was pretty jealous of it since he's without a classic at the moment and if you read to the end of the article he still says he'd rather have the old one than a new one...

shouldn't have spent all his money on a Bimmer with a pink engine then...

:)

i wondered what had happend to him...
always an interesting read and usually quite amusing

current crop of PC chasps seem intent on filling the country with eastern block tat and being quite serious about it

and still no mention of the Chrysler valiant in the buyers section
Intended as replacements for big humbers or competitors with Jensens or scimitars

generally a marketing and advertising disaster despised by many and loved by few.

tsk

should be right up their strasse shoudl fit in well after a feature on the Yugo

last mention said 1 Chrysler valiant left on UK roads and showed what i think was a 1960 Plymouth....i couldn't be arsed to write and say otherwise.

anyway

new dart Yuk
old dart yep

Nothing wrong with Eastern block Cars.

My first Car was a Yugo :thumbright: when i was ready for getting rid of it i thought i may as well destroy the car not look after it(it was worthless) i could not destroy the motor.I did a few trips with the motor on full revs never did any damage. You could drive it all day with your foot to the floor(nneded to just to get it to move),I spent a year driving it home at 6 am after working nights.30 mins on full revs day in day out no damage :D i could get it to 110 mph(downhill) it always started and went to the scrappers running as well as it did when new.

My mates used to call it the Plastic Car. a bit like a corvette without the performance.
