Le Mans Classic 2012 July 6th - 8th.

Post by MattH »

It's on again this year, well worth the weekend away if you like old metal and petrol.
http://www.lemansclassic.com/en/s01_hom ... 1_home.php

There are lots of camping or hotel B&B options, great event.

Anyone up for it. I hope to go subject to getting leave from work.
There are packages for car clubs that get you camping inside the circuit.

My article from last year in Connected will give you a taste if you can find the mag, and the Olympia Hemi Charger is booked as an entrant to the race this year.

If you can not Afford to go to Le Mans this year why not come to Bolton instead? this is not a wind up no! Bolton is the Le Mans twin Town 8-)

Each year they Have an event in the Town Centre, they have some Cars that have competed in Le Mans in the town center plus plenty of racing Classics like GT40s AC Cobras Vettes :thumbright: the best thing about it is if you have an interesting Classic they will let you put it on display for free ;) so if you have something Like a Charger,Challenger anything Muscle you would get in for sure :thumbright:

I do not know the dates of 2012 yet?

Here are some pics from last year.

Thanks :thumbright: are you going to risk sticking you Charger in Bolton town Center? I'm sure it would be popular if you did :thumbright:

Andy if you can put up with my writing, re-read my article about 2010 event as it was the first time I had been and it blew my mind, hence wanting to go back.

My mate Nick who does the man race every year did the Classic for the first time with me in 2010, and reckoned it is better. More civilised, more going on as it is lots of smaller races over a 24 hr period, rather than one long one where you can't tell what's going on.
It does have beer if you want it, essential in the heat, but we saw no lager louting.

Just got the from the Triumph Sports Six Club, who have opened up the Le mans Classic trip to other clubs it appears, as they e-mailed us.

Dear Triumph Enthusiast,

It’s that time of the year when we all start to think of holidays and trips away. The TSSC is planning two Continental classic racing trips this year, to Spa Francorchamps Classic on 25th – 27th May, and to Le Mans Classic on 6th – 8th July.

The good news is that there are still spaces available on both trips, and it’s open to all Triumph enthusiasts not only TSSC members.

Le Mans Classic is seen by everyone who has been as the “must go” classic racing experience, and the exclusive track-side camping at Tertre Rouge hired by the TSSC is the place to be. At Tertre Rouge, you are right next to the racing action and we lay on high quality facilities, hospitality tent with big-screen TV, SMS text messaging updating service and much more. The classic racing with 1950’s and 60’s cars on track (including Triumphs) is fast and furious. Le Mans Classic is the ultimate endurance racing event for Triumph enthusiasts.

Spa Francorchamps Classic is an up and coming new event, which started very successfully in 2011. The TSSC has an exclusive area at the comfortable and convenient Eau Rouge camp site, and dedicated Triumph parking next to the track. There’s plenty of action on track including 1950’s and 60’s sports cars and historic Formula 1. Spa is set in the beautiful Belgian Ardennes region and is the favourite track for many F1 drivers.

For more information, please follow this link to the TSSC website:

http://www.tssc.org.uk/index.php?option ... &catid=208

You can download a booking form via the link from the homepage.

So why not make 2012 the year to try a classic racing trip with the TSSC. Please book soon, as spaces are limited.

Hitching a lift with 3 others who have already sorted the ferry and camping.
Can't wait, should be a blast.
Anyone else going ??

Its bi annual so won't be on til 2014, hence why I was keen to go.
first time was 2010 and was mind blowingly good, so much so that I wrote an article in Connected about it.

Cracking weekend... went in my mate's Porker but saw the 76 Charger run, 76 Torino ran good and many corvettes trying to keep up with the Cobras and GT40s. Camped at Maison Blanche 100 yds from track, good atmosphere but no hooligans.... altho 1200 miles in one weekend has left me needing traction :help:
