Nearly but no coconut
Well fun and games, almost sold "Old Yella" agrred a price but she was farting back through the carb, so told the buyer I would sort it and he agreed to wait, which was a bit of a bummer as I just rebuilt the engine.
I had Bob Harman fitt hardened exhaust valve seats when the engine was stripped down to put my mind at ease while running on unleaded an thought that maybe one of the seats had dropped in the block and the valve was not closing fully.
But then though no it has to be an inlet valve for the backfire so took the head off and sure enough No 2 valve was not seating.
There was also a black witness between the two middle bores which was a surprise as I had checked the head before refitting and it seemed OK, so sent the head off to Brian at Milbore in Kings Langley and had it skimmed and whilst the side I checked was flat the other side was 15thou down in the middle so always check both sides is the lesson.
Back to the valve.
there is a removable panel under the passenger side wing to access the side valves for adjustment so off with the wheel remove the panel and remove the rear valve cover plate.
The valve adjustment was fully down and there was a feeler gauge clearance but the valve was not seating , go scratch head and have another coffee.
Decided to remove the valve as it must bent, by bolting a spanner into one of the head bolt holes it stopped the valve lifting and with a screwdriver was able to lift the spring and remove ONE collet.
felt around in the oil gallery and there was the offending collet.
Valve was true but jamming at the bottom of its movement due to the valve spitting one of the collets off.
So then it snows so cant get out to refitt.
Then get a call from the buyer to say he has bough a Chebby dayvan Grrrrr
Oh well it keeps me busy I suppose.

Excellent video Bob, is that electric power?
My dad had a Jetex Mig15 when he was a boy, trouble was balsa wood and cigarette lighters don't go well together and it did a Hindenburg impression at the park in Romford.
There is an aero modeller day at Shuttleworth this sunday 12th Feb, usually get alot of flying models there.
My models dont fly, just static.
Building this at the moment

Bump yep it is a duct-ed fan basically a sophisticated hair drier with a brushless motor controller and a lipo battery.
It is made from expanded poly and weighs less than 1500g, the motor set up puts out about 2k of thrust, if you can get the power to weight above 1:1 they go like hell.
The problem then is failure due to the speed, aileron flutter and fuselages exploding are normal above 150 mph. we incorporate all sorts of tricks to avoid these characteristics like carbon fiber strengtheners and gap less hinges it can get quite technical which is why I love it

There is a swap meet at the agricultural college at old Warden on the 12th we usually grab a few bargains there

Mine is still in the box awaiting building, this is the best pic I found on the web as its quite a rare kit.
I will try to photo and post some I have built, anorak that I am.
