Cheers 'Cuda,

I thought the Valiant Charger was pretty rare in itself but i get what you mean, i honestly wasn't looking to get another classic but i saw this and loved it straight away. Definately not a tinkerer so taking my old man up with me (mechanic by trade) to have a good look at the Charger. Just wondering if you guys thought it was reasonably priced, if a p/ex for the mustang is fair etc as i can't gauge the value of the valiant.

I'll offer my opinion........But please understand this is only MY OPINION and as such should not deter you from buying the Aussie car. We all have different tastes and as such you pays your money takes your choice!!! :thumbright:

It looks like a cracking car with a fantastic spec, but for the money you are spending there are other cars that can be had.

Look in the classifieds on here. Some sold/Some not, but worth looking at

Sold i know but the same as what your looking to spend. =P~

Blues old car, yes again its sold, but right in your price bracket (and built well).

Why not sell the mustang privately (get more ££ no doubt), then see whats about.

Just offering a different opinion.

There are a few guys that sell cars on here too.

Sir Budgie and i believe Andyrob is selling a B Body that looks 8-) just to name 2.

Hope you get what you want....... :thumbright:

Cheers Dave definately appreciate different input, that 'cuda is gorgeous!!!

Tbh i'm sure you guys will know how hard it is to try sell a muscle car at this time of year and get anywhere near the sort of price you're looking for hence my reason for the p/ex.

I tend to do a lot of daft things off impulse but the only other muscle car i've thought about going for is dodge charger but they're a bit out my price range for now.

Welcome Taskmaster, I can understand why your going for the Charger, although I am Not personally a fan of them for looks, I must admit it is done well and its all done, finished and with a 452 BB you got it all :D

I used to own this many years ago and what a car, go anywhere, reasonable on fuel, well reliable, fast etc etc., a real nice ride, but then I saw a '71 340 Cuda 4spd and that was it.

Don't know how long the chargers been for sale but I wouldn't part with a lot of cash his way, I think you got a real nice Muzzy there...I used to be a Car trader and I know he'll prob not want to give much for yours, at the end of the day you got a real classic there, notchback or not, don't see it that way for the charger, in fact I would say a straight chop is the order of the day, but thats only my opinion, so good luck but just step back a bit and don't let the 425hp get the better of you, its only an engine :)

Les that fastback is gorgeous, sounds like you had it well set up too :)

Without giving figures away there is cash going his way as well as the 'stang but it's not a great deal (think hundreds not thousands). You're right by being dazzled by 425hp tho and about needing to take a step back :D

Well tbh all I did with it is take the sidepipes off, fit a set of headers, did the mixture on the Holley, adjusted the tappets and that was it, never had to touch it again, ran real sweet....best car I had really.

If you've only got give a few 100's then that ain't too bad I guess....once smitten eh? ;)...oh and ask if he can supply you with an extra 2 rear tyres....you'll need them

My guess on fuel consumption with the 452 would be 8mpg, that isn't going to be an issue for you is it Ian? It depends on what use you think you'll be putting it too? :?

Would obviously prefer 38mpg lol

I've got the bike and another car for most journeys so it will mostly be used for trips out in the nice weather and the odd trip to work when the missus needs the car. The Mustang isn't that much better fuel wise tbh.

With the car being so light, and with the right gearing to match the torque output of the engine, and very good tuning, I would expect 12-15mpg at a legal cruise speed with a light foot.

But more like 4-5mpg around town.

I just read in another ad 4 it which was on eBay that it had Caltracs on it....maybe will be a bit harsh on the ride?......nothing that can't be sorted though.

Dave i would definately be chuffed with 12-15 mpg.

Les it does have Caltracs on it, not sure how that will affect it tbh.

Some awesome news though, just saved nearly £700 on my initial insurance quote by going through Footman James, i'm a happy chappy right now!

You are spot on there :thumbright: if you go GM its silly!

I do not know if he still has it? but i know of a real 442 in good condition, with the later 455 monster in it to make it more fun,and he only wanted about 7k for it.

There was recently a Buick riviera Wildcat near me,it was a true numbers matching big block with 2 x 4 barrel so a factory duel quad monster rare!

A solid car only about 5 to 6k did need plenty of TLC but shows what you can pick up.How much is a numbers matching multi carb Mopar? :D

Cheers lads really appreciate all the honest advice. Off to see the Charger with my old man on Sat and i'm pretty smitten with it so chances are a deal will be done. You lads are probably right about maybe going for something else for the money and putting a bit of graft in but i'm just not mechanically minded or patient enough to take on a project so it pretty much has to be a finished car for me.

The 'stang is getting a pro detail tomorrow though so i may well change my mind :D
