CB radio

Post by Jeff »

Just dropped one in the Fury.... I got a real old, 23 channel radio. Needed work, but it looks well cool in there!

Then I got a NOS 23 channel radio, that is all chromey....

Both of the above cost me $10 total.

Mercy-Sakes alive.....

I can see CB making a comeback if UK and US Govts carry on with their plans for complete intrusion into every form of electronic communication. Nothing will be private ever again

Hi once people get over the geek side of it, then the redneck truckers is the other side of it, I think more will use it, I have one fitted in my charger but it still needs tweaking a little, I also has one set up in my shed, all I get on that is the local farmers, hopefully Jeff will post up some pictures of it in his car 8-)

Here it is when I got it...

I had to do a little resto, and custom work on it. I also had to replace a couple of crystals. Now I have to make new chrome knob inserts. The red ones I made look too cheap.

I will be fitting one of my CB's into my Cortina Pick-up and one in my Capri, allot of the guys in the Capri Club Scotland already use them and now the MK3 Cortina guys are starting to catch on to the advantages especially as you no longer need a licence for them :thumbright:

The jaws cb radios found a loophole in the law. They were sold as kits. 1 small mod was needed to make them transmit. Piece of UK CB history there Ivor!

UK now has 80 legal channels, UKFM = 27.60125 MHz to 27.99125 MHz

and the CEPT channels, 26.965MHz to 27.405 MHz

How far can you transmit? How long is a bit of string? Legally a few miles up to 100 miles. With a little help? And using a export multimode radio, and a decent antenna, Around the world.
