When i was 17 and CB's were still common sight on car boot lids and gutters i used to use a Saphire X4000 with a mag mounted K40 on my old Escort and could get up to 20 miles with no problem while travelling but if i headed up to the top of a big hill and sat there stationary then could reach 50 to 60 miles.

Right im of to have a look on Ebay for a big CB whip areal for the Cortina pick-up ;)

Didn't even know that! The first CB I had was fitted in a '64 Impala and was a 23 channel Midland...it didn't work so well when I chopped four foot off the aerial!
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

In desperate search for the right radio, I now have 7 of them. I have spent a total of $80. Err none of them were in working order. But they are all fine now. So, I have the oldest one in the Fury, and I am going to keep this one in the Jeep. It has 7 weather stations, and a auto weather warning built in. Also looks cool at night!

Got this one for $5. It had a blown reverse polarity diode. 50¢ fix. It is in really good shape. Too good for the old '88 Jeep!
