Charger engine bay refurb'

Post by sidewaysjas »

Have been reading about what you guys are up to so thought it was time to tell you about mine. I have a '69 Charger which is a bit tatty to be honest but I am trying to gradually get it up together, but keep it on the road as much as poss'. Recently finished doing the engine bay.

engine bay

Post by sidewaysjas »

Thanks for the comments. Engine bay was taken back to bare metal in places and sound paint in others, was treated with rust killer where necessary and etch primed, primered and then painted in 2pk. After some advice from the forum did it Vermillion red. Block was done the same, have done over 100miles now and no signs of it coming off with the heat so fingers crossed. :thumbright:

Incidently didn't plan for an engine bay revamp, but the clutch went so decided to take the engine out to replace it and also the leaky crankshaft seal, oh and the leaking core plug etc etc.

Funny how things kind of snowball.

black bits

Post by sidewaysjas »

Thanks autofetish,
The slam panel was primer and satin black 2pk and came out okay. The wiper motor, heater motor etc on the bulkhead were rubbed down and done with satin black aerosols. Engine mounts and crossmember were black smoothrite. Would like to have had the crossmember blasted and powder coated but at the time I didn't want to strip the front suspension. Jobs on the Charger always seems to take 3 times longer than you thought they would.
