With that stud girdle Jon would you still need or want to cross bolt the mains?
Looks the absolute tits mate, is this motor due to be ready for this season start? Can't wait to see it all up and spinning, I wanted to do a Procharger engine when Jerry had one for sale on here a few months back but I missed it by a few days, still plan to build one :D

If cross bolting was necessary Dave probably would have suggested it when he was doing everything else.
We are going with the Indy motor to start the season but with a single 1050 Quick Fuel carb ( now I'm the European agent for them I thought I should use one)
We are hoping to have the prochargerd motor in by the nats at the latest.

Well there is that theory that cross bolting on a 440 actually weakens the bottom end.

cos you drill through the side of the block into the main caps

weakens the rail and could in theory allow more twistyness...

already got a set of caps that take impact well...i.e sretch but go back as they should rather than just stretching or cracking or comeing loose and chaffing about like cast iron....

and a girdle tied into to pan rail via the sump bolts and caps to keep it all in a line as it troies to wrap istelf around the crank...

drilling holes under the pan rail holes that already exists to put in bolts that may well be subjected to sheer stresses can be considered a backwards step

or so i read

i really have no idea....as the engineering in this kinda thing is way beyond me with my hack saw and machine mart drill press

Top Notch work there TuRnIp!!!

That girdle has gotta be as good if not betta than a 'program' cross-bolter!
Standard style block is always gonna be the weak link in a 1000+ horsepower motor.
The Ali maincaps will help soften the load on the bottom end.

When the funds are right a Mega-block has gotta be on the cards?
It weighs a staggerring 70lbs more than a stock 440 block!

All in All a sight to behold!!!

Would always go for an intercooler meself as the heat build-up can be horrendous.
The lower compression will help to keep it COOOL!!!
