Chris Evans' "Car Fest" August bank holiday

Post by Dave-R »

Keep an eye on this one. Could be a massive event and possibly something this club should officially attend.

At Jody Scheckters house apparently.

Thanks for that Dave, I wasn't aware of that...I think Jody Scheckter lives in Sussex or Hampshire, so it looks like one for the Southerners.
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Well yeah. But possibly not if you have an LS1 that does nearly 30mpg. ;)

My mate here in the office was telling me about it when I got in this morning as Chris Evans had been talking on the radio about it.

Then it was mentioned on the Corvette forum which is where I got the web page link from.

there are only two shows i will attend south of Birmingham ,the Nats and the Hot Rod Drags.

Not worth traveling for a static show, one reason the Nats and the Drags are so much better is the racing to watch.

Just the thought of Chris Evans is enough to put me off :D How much do the BBC pay him?

Hi Jody's place is between Whitchurch and Overton two villages near Basingstoke in Hampshire, he's got some of his old F1 cars at his place and plenty of land to put on a show :thumbright:

Im guessing hes got his idea from this event out this way in Bucks..and now wants to do his own thing...
KopHill Cimb...
few of us attended...its a plug but so...some photos...cant find the one of his motor..think I was in the bar !!

CHRIS Evans was among the thousands of people who paid a visit to the Kop Hill Climb in Princes Risborough at the weekend.

The Radio 2 presenter turned up unannounced to the race and the renowned petrolhead had a go at the race to the top of the hill in one of his vintage cars.

The star wasn’t able to hang around for too long however, as scores of drivers lined up to tackle the famous climb.

Organiser Peter Lewis said: “He told his wife he was just going out to get petrol. He brought his son and ended up here, did the climb then said ‘I’ve got to go now’. He had a good walk around and enjoyed it.”

Well it looks like it is going to be a rich nobs event.

I thought this sounded like a nice day out but 60 quid is a lot even though it's a charity do.

A guy on the Corvette Forum put it well;

I thought it was a car event? Called "CarFest"?
"please minimise the amount of traffic on the lanes around Laverstoke Park by sharing cars as much as possible"
I guess that really means: "unless you've got a really posh & expensive car, then please get the bus here, so you don't interrupt the party us rich people are having. We don't really care that you've got a passion for something unusual, unless it's really expensive, in which case we'd love to share a Bloody Mary with you. Failing that, please bring a crate of Fosters, and have a quiet drink on your own while straining your neck to watch all the good stuff over a picket fence we'll probably erect to keep people away from the cars..."
