mick can you not go 29" on the tyres and alter your diff ratio i am sure the car would be much more stableMick wrote:Les
I need to address the fuel system first, it took 70 secs to fill a gallon can.
Dunc
When i fitted the dana i moved it back an inch and lowered the back down but it still sits fairly high because of the 31" tyres.

I have the same problem with mine.It was fine until i started to launch harder then it REALLY moved about. If i drove it of the line,, then wound it up it was fine .The result was 11.67 at 129mph . That Speed should be deep into the tens...Tall tyres are not helping ,but i have been told if your front runners are short i.e 24 or 26 your problem is exaggerated because of the weight bias on launch......My car is ready to go and i have no idea if it is going to go straight.Rear end is as low as i dare go without bottoming out.I have not changed the 26 front runners to 28 yet but will do when i fit me tube k member.....All will be reaveled at Dragstalgia, got myself a new firesuit just in case

Mick i am up to my neck in work ,If i could be at the Pod all the time i would be..Dragstalgia is about old race cars ,and thats my vice...Mick wrote:You just need to line it up straight and it will be fine, two or three times i haven't had the front wheels straight, so it heads for the centerline.
Why aren't you coming to the mopars Pete ?

I used to have the same problem when I started racing Mick, I was so used to racing with a four speed on the street, I would automatically give it some opposite lock as I dumped the clutch to counteract the fact that the car would go sideways. Doing that at the track on slicks had me heading for the guardrail real quick, I had to unlearn that habit a bit sharpish.....
Pete wrote:Often it goes wonky bent at the 1st to 2nd gear change or leaving the line with one hand on the shifter, but KI am sure you don't do that...............
here's a classic example of that, which you've probably seen.....never thought I would have to shift 2nd quite so soon after the launch!!
watch from 1.13 > 1.32
When the '67 Dart was wheelstanding I found that if I left the line with my hand on the shifter, with it being a reverse pattern I could inadvertently shift into 2nd and ruin the run; or I would unconciously put lock on the steering when shifting and this caused the car to become more unsettled.
The problem is compounded by the suspension tucking in under the car and giving the "mopar shimmy" when the car settles down on its front wheels.
I had loads of caster dialed in to help stability, but this increases the negative camber on a stock suspension....problems, problems....
I am full of praise for people in the States that run really fast on cart spring cars with stock front suspension; but at very low 10's on an "A" Body I think you are starting to push your luck.........ask Mags Bailey on his views.........

Sounds daft but where do you other guys have your left hand ?
I found having at the 7 or 8 o clock position kept it straight during changes as opposed to at the 12 o clock position where your hand is more likely to tip one way or the other

Yep, that would be an "E" Body and if truth be told that was getting on the ragged edge
